Netgear routers have a service in them called Dynamic DNS which will allow you to assign your public IP address to a URL that will update whenever your public IP address changes. I don't think the xfinity modems come with that feature but you should be able to just plug in a 3rd party router and find that setting.

I am unable to set up a port forward to a device that is connected by an ethernet cable. The XFinity application only shows devices connected by wi-fi.
